World Cup 2026: Ghana UN Mission says official ticket allocations not yet received
The Permanent Mission of Ghana to the United Nations has announced that official ticket allocations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have not yet been received.
The statement, issued from New York by Nuong Faalong, Head of Information and Public Affairs, follows a surge of inquiries from Ghanaians and diaspora members across the United States.
The spike in public interest was triggered by recent comments from President John Dramani Mahama regarding World Cup tournament tickets during his diplomatic visit to the United Kingdom.
In response to the heavy volume of calls, the Mission clarified that it is currently working closely with government authorities in Accra to resolve the issue.
Officials assured the public that specific distribution details will be communicated as soon as they become available.
While the UN Mission in New York awaits its official batch, other diplomatic corridors are moving forward with ticketing programs.
The Ghana High Commission in Canada has already begun collecting data from diaspora fans requiring assistance for Ghana’s highly anticipated Group L opening match against Panama in Toronto.
This initiative aligns with a broader national strategy confirmed by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.
According to Minister Kofi Adams, the government successfully secured a total pool of 1,000 tickets explicitly earmarked to support Ghanaian diaspora communities across the tournament’s various North American host venues.
Ghana’s Black Stars are locked into Group L for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, setting up a highly anticipated three-match initial stretch across North America.
The campaign kicks off on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, when Ghana takes on Panama at Toronto Stadium in Canada. Six days later, on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, the team travels to the United States to face a formidable England squad at Boston Stadium
