Lameck Banda stays away from Lecce
Lameck Banda is not expected to return to Lecce anytime soon, even after calming fears about his wellbeing by posting training clips on social media.
The Zambia winger has been absent since missing the club’s pre-season camp, and the situation now looks more like a contract standoff than a simple delay.
Banda had stayed in Zambia and initially pointed to logistical and administrative problems as the reason he did not report back on time. His recent videos suggest he is healthy and still working on his fitness, but that has not changed the club’s concern over his future.
According to the report, Lecce sporting director Stefano Trinchera had already warned that the player would “pay the consequences of his behaviour” after failing to join pre-season preparations. Trinchera also said the club feared “something may have happened” when Banda went missing, before the social media posts eased those worries.
The forward has one year left on his contract, yet Lecce have not received any transfer offers. For now, the club is left waiting for a resolution while Banda’s next move remains unclear.
