Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang dropped by Marseille for Le Havre clash
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly set to miss Olympique de Marseille’s upcoming match against Le Havre AC after being excluded from the squad amid growing tensions within the club.
According to RMC Sport, Marseille’s management have decided to sanction the Gabonese striker following a difficult period marked by internal unrest and concerns over behaviour within the group.
The decision comes after the club’s heavy defeat away to Nantes, which reportedly worsened the atmosphere around the squad.
The situation is said to have escalated further during the team’s training camp at the Commanderie training centre.
Reports indicate that several incidents and behaviours considered inappropriate by club officials were observed during the gathering, prompting action from the management.
As a result, Marseille have reportedly chosen to leave Aubameyang out of the squad for the next Ligue 1 fixture as part of wider measures aimed at restoring discipline and stability within the team.
The move is understood to form part of a broader restructuring effort as the club attempts to regain control during a difficult end to the season.
The atmosphere surrounding Marseille has been under increasing scrutiny in recent weeks following inconsistent performances and growing pressure around the club.
Management are now believed to be focused on improving the environment within the squad ahead of the final stretch of the campaign.
According to the same reports, Stéphane Richard and Alban Juster travelled to the Commanderie training ground to personally communicate the sanctions to members of the squad.
Their visit was reportedly aimed at reinforcing discipline and helping restore a healthier atmosphere inside the club.
Aubameyang’s absence would represent a major decision given his status and experience within the Marseille squad.
The Gabonese forward has remained one of the most recognised figures at the club despite the difficult circumstances surrounding the team in recent weeks.
Marseille now face the challenge of responding positively on the pitch against Le Havre while also attempting to calm tensions behind the scenes as the season approaches its conclusion.
