U-17 AFCON: Lamine Sané names Senegal squad for tournament
Senegal have announced their squad for the upcoming U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco 2026, with coach Lamine Sané naming a balanced team blending talent from top local academies and emerging clubs across the country.
The squad features promising youngsters spread across all departments, with several players drawn from renowned development structures such as Generation Foot, Diambars FC, and Dakar Sacré-Cœur, highlighting the depth of Senegal’s youth football pipeline.
Goalkeepers
Sané has selected three goalkeepers: Assane Sarr of Ndangane FC, Daouda Alassane Ba from Generation Foot, and Mamadou D. Gueye of Diambars FC.

The defensive unit includes Cheikh Thior (Oslo FA), Cheikh Dieng and Amadou Bamba Kane (both Diambars FC), Thierno Sow and Cheikh Tidiane Diallo (both United Académie), Lamine Mbengue (Generation Foot), and Abdourahmane Dieye of Keur Madior FC.
Midfielders
In midfield, Senegal will rely on Mahamet Ba (Diambars FC), Maurice Biaye (AF Darou Salam), Emile Niaga Sadio (Essamaye FC), Souleymane C. Faye (Be Sport), El Hadji Ibrahima Sow (Dakar Sacré-Cœur), and Sébastien Nogueira from Generation Foot.

Technical leadership
The squad will be led at the tournament by Lamine Sané, who continues to oversee Senegal’s youth development project with a focus on discipline, structure, and long-term player progression.
Senegal head into the U-17 AFCON as one of the tournament favourites, with expectations high given the country’s recent success at youth level and the steady flow of talent from its elite academies.
