Steven Gerrard has a good talking relationship with Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah has revealed that a private meeting with Steven Gerrard played a key role in shaping his decision to leave Liverpool FC at the end of the season, drawing the curtain on a glittering nine-year spell at Anfield.

The 33-year-old forward recently confirmed he will depart as a free agent this summer, bringing an end to one of the most successful individual eras in the club’s modern history.

Speaking during a conversation with Gerrard on TNT Sports, Salah disclosed that the former Liverpool captain visited him at home during a pivotal period of reflection over his future.

“Yeah, I’m happy now. I remember we had that conversation; I appreciated that. I think people didn’t know that you came to my house. I hope it was a good dinner!” Salah said.

The Egyptian forward suggested that Gerrard’s perspective carried significant weight, particularly given his stature at the club and understanding of what it means to leave on the right terms.

“We had a good conversation, and you said your opinion, and I think I really, really appreciate it.”

Salah indicated that the advice he received helped frame his decision not just as an exit, but as a carefully timed departure aligned with his legacy.

“Yeah, I’m glad that I’m leaving now from a big door, and I think this is also something you mentioned to me, just leaving on your terms, and I still remember those words, so, yeah, I’m happy about it… it’s time to go.”

Since arriving from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has become one of Liverpool’s defining figures, driving the club’s resurgence under Jürgen Klopp and delivering major honours, including the UEFA Champions League and Premier League titles.

His impending exit signals the end of an era, with Liverpool set to lose not only a prolific goalscorer but also a player whose consistency and influence have been central to their sustained success.
