AFCON 2027: Kick-off and final dates confirmed by CAF
CAF has officially set the calendar for the historic TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
The opening match of the tournament will be played on Saturday, 19 June 2027, marking the start of the first-ever AFCON staged across three co-hosts in East Africa. The competition will then run for almost a full month, with the final scheduled for Saturday, 17 July 2027, bringing the continent’s showpiece event to a close.
CAF has not yet confirmed which of the three host nations will stage the opening game and the final, and that announcement will follow at a later date. What is already clear, however, is that AFCON 2027 will give Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda a rare chance to showcase their football culture and infrastructure to an estimated audience of more than 400 million people across the region and beyond.
The tournament also marks AFCON’s return to East Africa for the first time since Ethiopia hosted back in 1976, underlining the confederation’s drive to spread major events more evenly across the continent.
