Ethan Ampadu has said Leeds United are in ‘a strong position’ to secure Premier League survival after a crucial 3-1 victory over Burnley at Elland Road on Friday, a result that significantly strengthened their late-season push.

Leeds produced a controlled and disciplined display to claim all three points, with goals from Anton Stach, Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin sealing a deserved win.

The result moved Daniel Farke’s side nine points clear of 18th placed Tottenham, with just three matches remaining in the campaign.

It was a performance that combined efficiency in attack with resilience at key moments, easing pressure in a tense relegation battle.

Speaking after the match, the Welsh international of Ghanaian descent highlighted both the significance of the result and the club’s response to recent setbacks.

“We’re delighted. I said before the game that we’ve not managed to beat Burnley and we wanted a bit of revenge and get to 43 points. We like to think we’ve put ourselves in a strong position with three games left,” he said.

Attention now shifts to maintaining momentum, with Ampadu also acknowledging the supporters who played their part at Elland Road.

“On the Leeds fans: “We wanted to give them a bank holiday weekend to enjoy. We had the disappointment last weekend. Hopefully, three more good results.”

He also credited manager Daniel Farke for the team’s clarity and confidence during a decisive stage of the season.

“He gives everyone the confidence and the license to go and play with confidence and with freedom. We’re well prepared for the games and that puts us in a great position.”
