Albert Adomah backs Aston Villa to edge Forest in Europa League semi-final
Former Ghana international Albert Adomah has backed Aston Villa to overcome Nottingham Forest and push for European glory.
Speaking to Flashscore ahead of the historic all-Midlands clash, Adomah—who enjoyed significant spells with both clubs—expressed his belief that the opportunity to lift a major trophy will see both teams shift focus away from their Premier League campaigns.
The tie marks Forest’s first major European semi-final since 1984, while Villa are chasing their first silverware under Emery’s specialist guidance.
“I think they will prioritise the cup because they’re at the end of it,” Adomah explained. “And in a cup, it doesn’t matter if you’re the best team; anyone can win a cup. So I think they will be thinking about a cup. There’s a chance to win a cup. And then after they’ll be thinking about survival mode.”
Despite his ties to the City Ground, Adomah admitted his heart lies with the Birmingham club as they prepare for the first leg tonight.
“Football is just a wonderful sport, so anything can happen. I’ve played for both clubs, so now I don’t know who I want to win,” he said. “But I guess whoever wins, wins. But I prefer Aston Villa to win, if I’m honest.”
The winner of the two-legged tie will advance to the final in Istanbul on May 20.
