Ghana’s Albert Adomah backs Nottingham Forest in Premier League survival fight
Former Nottingham Forest winger Albert Adomah has thrown his support behind his old club’s fight for Premier League survival, praising their historic European form despite a difficult domestic campaign.
Adomah, who spent the 2019/20 season at the City Ground, admitted he holds a special connection to the club and is rooting for them to avoid the drop.
“I don’t wish any club to go down, but with Forest, because I played for them as well, I want them to obviously stay up,” Adomah told Flashscore.
The veteran former Ghana international, now at Walsall, highlighted the club’s journey back to the top flight as a reason for his support.
“They’ve done well to get promoted. So I want them to stay up because that’s another former club of mine. So I can only wish them well,” he added.
Forest’s current season has been one of stark contrasts. While they have battled relegation for much of the year, they have simultaneously captivated fans with a run to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals—their first major European semi-final in 42 years.
After defeating FC Porto in the quarter-finals, they now face Adomah’s other former side, Aston Villa, for a place in the final.
Acknowledging this divide in form, Adomah noted: “Obviously, they are struggling at the moment in the Premier League, but they still did well in Europe.”
Forest recently boosted their survival hopes with a dominant 5-0 win over Sunderland, providing much-needed momentum as they juggle their high-stakes European commitments with the top-flight run-in.
