REVEALED: Why Stanley Nwabali’s potential move to Simba SC collapsed
Nigeria international goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has reportedly missed out on a transfer to Tanzanian side Simba SC after negotiations broke down over financial terms.
The 29-year-old became a free agent in February following his departure from South African side Chippa United, where his impressive performances had previously attracted interest from several top clubs across the continent.
In the aftermath of his standout displays, particularly at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Nwabali was linked to several clubs.
More recently, Tanzanian giants Simba SC were said to have shown strong interest in securing his signature.
The club, according to sources, attempted to sign the goalkeeper in January while he was still with Chippa United but eventually pulled out of the deal.
Insiders indicate that although Simba were keen to reinforce their squad with the Nigerian shot-stopper, talks stalled due to what was described as excessive financial demands from his camp.
“They really wanted to sign him in January, but it did not happen, and they have moved on from him,” a source revealed.
“Simba wanted him because he is a good goalkeeper, but the demands were too high. They have moved on.”
Nwabali remains without a club as he continues to weigh his options ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Reports suggest South African outfit Sekhukhune United are also monitoring his situation, while Tanzanian side Azam FC has now emerged as a potential suitor.
