Werder Bremen are being linked with a move for VfL Osnabrück attacking midfielder Ismail Badjie.

The Bundesliga side are reportedly monitoring the 20-year-old, who is currently playing in Germany’s 3. Liga with Osnabrück and is valued at €325,000 on Transfermarkt. The speculation, first noted on 28 April 2026, lists the probability of any deal as unclear (“?”), but places Bremen as the primary suitor for the highly rated prospect.

Badjie, born on 17 October 2005 in Jambanjelly, holds dual nationality with Germany and The Gambia and operates primarily as an attacking midfielder. Right-footed and listed at 1.75m tall, he wears the number 37 shirt for Osnabrück. With no contract expiry date publicly recorded, there is also the possibility he could become a free agent in the near future, a situation that would strengthen Bremen’s hand should they choose to formalise their interest.

The youngster has been developing in the 3. Liga with Osnabrück, and his recent outings in Germany’s third tier have helped to underpin his current market valuation of €325k, which would represent a relatively low-risk investment for a top-flight club. Osnabrück currently list him as part of their senior set-up rather than a youth squad, underlining his step up into professional football.

While specific details of any bid have not been disclosed and no agreement is in place, Bremen’s interest reflects a wider trend of Bundesliga clubs targeting emerging talents from lower divisions, where contract situations can accelerate moves or lead to players leaving after deals have expired.

If a transfer to Werder does materialise, the move from 3. Liga to the Bundesliga would mark a major leap in Badjie’s career trajectory and could prove decisive in shaping his reputation and long-term potential at the top level of German football.
