Zamalek suffer injury setback

Zamalek SC have confirmed the injury suffered by their captain, Omar Gaber, during Monday’s league encounter against ENPPI SC, raising concerns ahead of a decisive title showdown.

The goalless draw saw Enppi frustrate the league leaders in the fourth round of the championship phase, slowing Zamalek’s momentum at a critical stage of the season. Despite the setback, Zamalek remain top of the Egyptian Premier League with 50 points, holding a six-point advantage over Pyramids FC and Al Ahly SC, who are set to face off in a high-stakes clash.

Enppi, meanwhile, move to 36 points and occupy sixth position in the standings after securing a valuable point against the league leaders.

In an official update, Zamalek disclosed that Gaber sustained an adductor muscle injury and will undergo further medical examinations to determine the full extent of the problem.

The experienced defender was forced off just around the half-hour mark after struggling with discomfort, and his early exit has cast serious doubt over his availability for the highly anticipated encounter against Al Ahly.

With the title race intensifying, Gaber’s potential absence would be a significant blow for Zamalek, as they prepare for one of the most important fixtures of their campaign.
