Rassoul Ndiaye targets World Cup Place through Le Havre performances
Rassoul Ndiaye has said his ambition to reach the World Cup with Senegal is driving his performances at club level, as he continues to establish himself at Le Havre AC.
Speaking ahead of Le Havre’s 4-4 draw with FC Metz, the midfielder reflected on his international aspirations and the importance of consistent form in earning a place in the national team squad.
Having been named a reserve during the most recent Africa Cup of Nations, Ndiaye is determined to force his way into a more prominent role with Senegal.
He has already returned to the national setup for friendly matches against Brazil and Kenya in November 2025, but acknowledges that regular club performances will be key to his progression.
“Of course, it’s on the mind of every player who could participate. There’s no competition in this world more exciting than the World Cup. Of course I think about it, and it will depend on my performances,” he said.
The midfielder added that his experience with the national team has strengthened his motivation to improve and push for selection.
“I was a reserve during the AFCON, I hope that will change. Once again, what I can do is always give my all on the pitch and try to perform.”
Beyond his international ambitions, Ndiaye also spoke about his decision to extend his contract with Le Havre, despite interest from elsewhere as his previous deal approached its end.
“I think it’s just who I am. I came here three years ago and I said I wouldn’t leave without giving back what the club had given me.
They came to get me from FC Sochaux-Montbéliard during a difficult period. These are gestures I won’t forget… When I spoke to my agent and those close to me, everyone was on the same page. I knew that when the time came to extend, I was going to sign no matter what,” he stated.
Ndiaye’s focus now remains on delivering consistent performances for Le Havre, with the midfielder believing that his club form will ultimately determine whether he can realise his World Cup ambition.
