Conte expresses disappointment over Romelu Lukaku snub
Antonio Conte revealed his frustration after Romelu Lukaku failed to greet him during a recent visit to Napoli’s training facility, following the team’s commanding 4-0 victory over Cremonese.
The manager’s comments highlighted an unexpected breakdown in communication between the pair, who previously shared a successful working relationship.
When asked about Lukaku, Conte didn’t hold back his feelings about the encounter. “No. I didn’t have the chance to speak to him. He came to the training ground, spoke to a director but not to me,” the Napoli boss explained. The striker reportedly visited the facility but chose not to seek out his former manager, despite Conte being present in his office.
The Italian tactician expressed his dismay at the lack of acknowledgment. “I have my office there; no one came to knock on the door. I was really disappointed about that – a message, something,” Conte stated. He further added, “I try to understand everyone, but no one tries to understand the manager,” emphasizing the one-sided nature of the situation.
The incident occurred during Napoli’s push for Champions League qualification, with the team currently sitting second in Serie A despite an injury-plagued campaign.
