Former Nigeria international goalkeeper Idah Peterside believes Stanley Nwabali stands to earn a significant salary if he secures a move to Kaizer Chiefs, citing the financial strength of top South African clubs.

Nwabali has been without a club since parting ways with Chippa United in February by mutual consent. Despite being a free agent and open to new opportunities, the shot-stopper is yet to finalise a move, several months into his search for a new team.

During this period, the Super Eagles goalkeeper has attracted reported interest from clubs including Wydad Athletic Club, Simba SC, and Kaizer Chiefs, although no transfer has been completed.

Peterside, who also featured in the South African Premier Soccer League in the early 2000s, suggested that a move to Naturena could prove highly lucrative for the 27-year-old.

Speaking to SportsBoom, he indicated that South African top clubs have strong financial capacity, particularly the traditional powerhouses.

He argued that players often underestimate the earning potential in the league, adding that salaries at leading clubs can be far higher than in several European destinations.

In his assessment, Peterside compared potential earnings across markets, suggesting that a move to South Africa could offer more financial stability than lower-paying European leagues.

He also described Kaizer Chiefs, alongside Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, as one of the country’s “big three” clubs capable of providing strong career and financial support for players.

Peterside further noted that consistent game time and financial security are key considerations for goalkeepers evaluating their next move, especially at this stage of their careers.
