Bamba Dieng linked with Bundesliga move after Lorient spell

Senegal international Bamba Dieng is expected to leave FC Lorient at the end of the season, with growing indications that a move to Germany could be his next destination.

The 24-year-old forward is approaching the expiry of his contract in June and is not set to renew his deal with the French club, bringing his time with Les Merlus to a close as he looks towards a new challenge in Europe.

Interest in Dieng has intensified in recent weeks, with several clubs monitoring his situation. Among them, Werder Bremen have emerged as a leading contender, with reports suggesting the Bundesliga side are in ongoing discussions with the player’s representatives.

Talks between both parties are said to be progressing positively, although no agreement has yet been finalised. The German club are understood to be assessing the opportunity to secure Dieng on a free transfer, a factor that has added to his appeal in the market.

Dieng’s availability comes after a productive campaign in France, where he has rediscovered form and consistency. The striker has recorded 13 goals and one assist in 20 appearances across all competitions this season, underlining his importance in Lorient’s attacking setup.

His performances have been particularly notable in the second half of the campaign, where he has demonstrated improved confidence and efficiency in front of goal.

That return to form has not gone unnoticed, contributing to the growing interest from clubs outside France.

A member of Senegal’s squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2022, Dieng brings both international experience and proven ability at club level, making him an attractive prospect as a free agent.

With his contract situation now clear, attention is expected to focus on where he will continue his career next season.

While discussions remain ongoing, a potential move to the Bundesliga appears increasingly likely, as Dieng prepares for the next stage of his professional journey.
