Motherwell FC are being linked with a move for Dunfermline Athletic left-back Kieran Ngwenya, with the 23-year-old potentially available as a free agent.

The Scottish Premiership side are reported to be monitoring Ngwenya’s situation closely, with his contract status at Dunfermline not listed and the probability of a deal currently marked as “?” on transfer data site Transfermarkt. The defender is valued at €175k, a figure that would represent a low-risk acquisition if any compensation were required.

Glasgow-born Ngwenya, who is listed with Malawian and Trinidad and Tobago nationality, has been operating primarily as a left-back for Dunfermline in the Scottish Championship and wears the number three shirt. Standing at 1.89m, he offers considerable height for a full-back and can also cover across the defensive line.

Ngwenya, born on 25 September 2002, joined Dunfermline Athletic with his current deal’s expiry date not publicly disclosed, leaving open the prospect that he could run down his contract and walk away as a free agent if no extension is agreed. Any move to Fir Park would see him step up from the Championship to the Premiership, with Motherwell seeking value in a tight Scottish transfer market.

Transfermarkt’s latest listing, updated on 14 April 2026, confirms his market value at €175k and notes the current speculation surrounding a switch from Dunfermline to Motherwell. No fee or formal offer has been reported and the likelihood of the move remains undefined.

If a deal is completed, a move to Motherwell could provide Ngwenya with a platform to test himself at Premiership level and shape the next phase of his career in Scottish football.
