Beşiktaş have placed Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayındır at the top of their transfer list for the 2026-27 season, with a bold exchange proposal involving Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi now under consideration, sources have said.

The Turkish giants are planning a major overhaul of their goalkeeping department, with a renewed focus on domestic options.

Altay Bayındır, the 28-year-old Turkey international currently on the books of Manchester United, has emerged as Sergen Yalçın’s preferred choice, described internally as the “Number One” target due to his experience in both the Süper Lig and the Premier League.

Ndidi has also been identified as the makeweight in a potential deal, with Manchester United long admirers of the 29-year-old.

With Casemiro set to depart this summer and a need for added defensive steel in midfield, sporting director Jason Wilcox is reportedly viewing the Nigerian as a proven Premier League solution.

While Ndidi has become a key figure at Beşiktaş since his €8m move from Leicester City, the opportunity to return to England with a club of Manchester United’s stature is seen as an attractive prospect for the player.

For Beşiktaş, leveraging Ndidi in the deal could help secure a world-class goalkeeper while balancing overall expenditure.

The situation has also been influenced by Senne Lammens’ rise at Old Trafford, which has pushed Bayındır down the pecking order after an earlier spell as starter.

Sources close to the goalkeeper say he is “warm” to a return to Istanbul, provided he is guaranteed regular minutes.

Negotiations between the two clubs are expected to intensify ahead of the summer window, with intermediaries already exploring the structure of a deal that could satisfy both sides.

Beşiktaş are keen to avoid a heavy cash outlay, while Manchester United are assessing midfield reinforcements as part of a broader squad reshuffle.
