Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted Mohamed Salah still has “five or six years” at the highest level, while hailing the Egyptian forward as a once-in-a-generation talent ahead of his departure from Anfield this summer.

Salah is set to end a nine-year spell at Liverpool in which he shattered scoring records and redefined consistency in front of goal, leaving behind a legacy few in the club’s history can match.

Speaking on Peter Crouch’s podcast, Klopp suggested Salah’s achievements may never be replicated at the club, pointing to his relentless drive and constant evolution as key factors behind his sustained excellence.

Klopp said: “Maybe other people said it in the past when they counted the goals of Ian (Rush) or someone like that but I don’t think something like (Salah’s career) will happen again.”

He further elaborated on Salah’s unique work ethic and constant reinvention during his time at Liverpool, recalling how the forward would return each pre-season with added tools to his game.

Klopp highlighted the forward’s obsessive drive to improve, even during his earlier career stages, noting how frustrations in finishing pushed him to refine his technique away from the pitch.

“The combination of all the things he has plus the character he is and the desire he has. I never saw someone like him. If you saw Mo in training you would think he is a very talented boy, left foot, speed, wow, great. And he starts scoring because he was not happy with his finishing in Rome, so he built a goal in the backyard.”

Klopp also pointed to Salah’s tactical evolution in Liverpool’s title-winning campaign, stressing his improved creative output and adaptability in key moments.

He concluded by underlining the forward’s longevity and continued ambition: “He is 33 and he has another five or six years, 100%.”
