The Egypt national football team has intensified its build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with head coach Hossam Hassan confirming a crucial friendly scheduled for May 29 at the New Administrative Capital Stadium.

The fixture is set to play a central role in Egypt’s final phase of preparations before the team departs for the United States to compete on football’s grandest stage.

The Egyptian Football Association, under the leadership of Hany Abo Rida, is currently finalising arrangements for the match, with potential opponents including Jordan national football team, Sudan national football team, and Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team. A final decision is expected in the coming days.

The encounter will offer the technical bench a valuable opportunity to fine-tune tactical approaches and assess player fitness before naming the final World Cup squad.

Egypt’s training camp is slated to open on May 20, shortly after the domestic season concludes, giving players a brief recovery window before entering a decisive stretch of preparations.

During the camp, the Pharaohs are expected to play two friendly matches, including a marquee showdown against Brazil national football team on June 6 — a fixture widely seen as the ultimate test ahead of the tournament.

Meanwhile, uncertainty remains over the availability of Hamdy Fathy, who could miss the first friendly due to suspension but may return in time for the Brazil clash.

The scheduled matches highlight the coaching staff’s determination to assemble a squad that is not only tactically sharp but also mentally equipped to meet the demands and expectations of the global competition.
