Sudanese giants Al-Hilal Omdurman have been handed a major boost after Malian youngster Adama Coulibaly successfully underwent knee surgery in Cairo.

The 20-year-old winger had been sidelined in recent weeks after suffering a serious knee injury that ruled him out during a crucial stretch of the season. His absence was deeply felt by Al-Hilal, given his growing influence within the squad.

Coulibaly traveled to Egypt’s where he underwent extensive medical examinations before going under the knife. The procedure has now been confirmed as successful, raising hopes for a full recovery as he begins the rehabilitation process.

Since joining Al-Hilal in the summer of 2024, Coulibaly has steadily developed into one of the club’s most exciting young prospects. Despite his age, he featured in 18 matches, contributing two goals and two assists while showcasing pace, creativity, and attacking intent.

His performances played a key role in Al-Hilal’s impressive run in the CAF Champions League, where the Sudanese side reached the quarter-finals.

Al-Hilal’s continental journey, however, ended in dramatic fashion against RS Berkane. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, the Moroccan side secured qualification with a narrow 1-0 victory in the return fixture.

The tie was not without controversy, as Al-Hilal reportedly lodged three complaints to the Confederation of African Football regarding the match.

With surgery now behind him, the focus shifts to Coulibaly’s recovery and eventual return to action. Al-Hilal will be hoping the talented winger can regain full fitness and continue his upward trajectory, as they look ahead to future domestic and continental challenges.
