Mohamed Salah has come under fire after Liverpool's FA Cup exit

Mohamed Salah has come under intense scrutiny in the English media following Liverpool FC’s crushing 4-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

The Egyptian forward endured a difficult outing, capped by a missed penalty in the 64th minute, as Liverpool were comprehensively outplayed in a one-sided contest.

Low Ratings and Missed Opportunities

Performance ratings reflected the scale of his struggles, with This Is Anfield handing Salah a disappointing 3.53 out of 10. The display was described as “horrendous,” with particular focus on his inability to convert from the penalty spot.

Despite registering 14 touches inside City’s penalty area, Salah failed to make any meaningful impact, highlighting a frustrating night in front of goal.

Pundits Deliver Brutal Verdicts

Criticism from pundits was equally unforgiving. On TNT Sports, former Scotland striker Ally McCoist did not hold back in his assessment.

“It’s a shame, because he looks like a shadow of the man who lit up this league and this country… He doesn’t look confident as a player at the moment,” McCoist said.

Former England goalkeeper Joe Hart echoed those sentiments, observing that Salah appeared “very low on confidence” and “completely devastated” as he headed down the tunnel at halftime.

Meanwhile, ex-Liverpool defender Steve Nicol expressed disbelief at the sudden dip in form.

“This is unprecedented… How can you go from being a Player of the Year nominee last year to this? To the point that now you don’t even look like you know where the goal is!” he remarked.

Uncertain Future Adds to Pressure

The criticism comes at a delicate moment for Salah, who recently confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the current season. However, the 32-year-old has yet to reveal his next destination, adding further uncertainty as he navigates a challenging spell in form.

With expectations still high, the coming weeks could prove decisive in shaping both his final chapter at Anfield and his next move in the game.
