The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has officially terminated the appointment of Mohamed Kallon as the Head Coach of the National Men’s Team, the Leone Stars, with immediate effect.

The decision, announced on April 2, 2026, followed what the SLFA Executive Committee described as a “considered assessment of the technical, administrative, and strategic imperatives” of the national team.

The dismissal ends Kallon’s tenure just over a year into a three-year contract. While the SLFA’s official statement focused on strategic needs, the termination follows a period of mounting tension between the former Inter Milan star and the federation.

Key issues reportedly included a standoff over his coaching credentials, specifically the verification of his UEFA Pro License, and a public disagreement regarding his monthly salary.

Reports indicate Kallon had requested $20,000 per month, while the government’s final offer stood at $15,000.

Further complications arose during the recent FIFA Series in Azerbaijan. The SLFA expressed concern over potential disciplinary action from world football’s governing body after Kallon allegedly refused to attend mandatory pre-match and post-match press conferences.

These administrative frictions, combined with a record of three wins, two losses, and two draws, ultimately prompted the FA to seek a leadership change.

The SLFA expressed its appreciation for Kallon’s service but confirmed he is no longer recognized as the head of the technical staff.
