The Confédération Africaine de Football has secured a major visibility breakthrough for its flagship youth initiative after confirming that the 2026 continental finals of the African Schools Football Championship will be broadcast live on SuperSport.

The move significantly elevates the profile of a competition widely regarded as the continent’s largest grassroots football programme.

Staged in Harare from April 6 to 10, the tournament will assemble top-performing schools from CAF’s six zonal unions in both boys’ and girls’ under-15 categories.

The live broadcast arrangement ensures millions of viewers across Africa and beyond will follow the action, marking a decisive step in expanding the competition’s reach and commercial value.

Launched under the leadership of CAF President Patrice Motsepe, the initiative has already engaged more than three million participants since its inception, underlining its scale and developmental impact.

Motsepe is expected to attend the final, reinforcing CAF’s commitment to nurturing football at the grassroots level.

The finals will culminate in a double-header, with the girls’ decider scheduled for 14:00 local time, followed by the boys’ final at 15:15. Both matches will be carried live, offering a rare continental stage for emerging talent.

Beyond competition, the tournament carries significant financial incentives tied to development. Winners in both categories will receive 300,000 dollars, while second- and third-placed teams will earn 200,000 and 150,000 dollars respectively. The prize money, funded through the Motsepe Foundation, is earmarked for school-based development projects.

Hosts Zimbabwe will feature in both divisions alongside continental representatives including Ghana, Morocco, Senegal and Tanzania.
