Istanbulspor President Ecmel Faik Sarıalioğlu has addressed swirling rumors regarding a potential takeover of the club by Nigerian international Victor Osimhen, stating that no official proposal has been presented to the organization.

The clarification comes in the wake of reports suggesting that the 27-year-old Galatasaray striker intended to purchase the TFF First League side to establish a “football bridge” between Nigeria and Türkiye.

Speculation had mounted that Osimhen planned to transform Istanbulspor into a European hub for young African talents discovered through a newly established academy in his home country.

“We saw reports that Victor Osimhen will buy Istanbulspor,” Sarıalioğlu said, acknowledging the media buzz. “But as club president, we haven’t received an offer”.

He emphasized that while the leadership is aware of the public discourse, no formal contact or financial due diligence has been initiated by the player or his representatives.

The rumors had gained significant traction given Osimhen’s deep ties to Istanbul, where he has become a record-breaking figure for Galatasaray.

Since joining the Turkish giants permanently from Napoli in a landmark €75 million deal, the forward has consistently expressed his affection for the city’s football culture.

Osimhen has delivered 19 goals and seven assists in 29 appearances this season, maintaining the clinical edge that defined his rise through European football, including a standout period at Napoli.
