Chelsea stand firm behind Liam Rosenior despite historic slump
Chelsea FC are maintaining their backing of head coach Liam Rosenior despite a worrying collapse in form that has raised fresh doubts about the club’s direction this season.
The London side’s struggles deepened on Saturday, March 21, when they were convincingly beaten 3-0 by Everton FC in the Premier League. The result not only dealt a significant blow to Chelsea’s ambitions of securing UEFA Champions League qualification, but also extended a dismal run that has now seen them lose four consecutive league matches for the first time since 1993.
Supporters have begun to voice frustration as performances continue to fall below expectations, with the team appearing short on cohesion and confidence at a critical stage of the campaign. Defensive frailties and a lack of cutting edge in attack have compounded Chelsea’s problems, leaving them at risk of slipping further behind in the race for a top-four finish.
However, despite the mounting pressure, there appears to be no immediate threat to Rosenior’s position. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the club’s hierarchy remains committed to the manager and is prepared to give him time to navigate the current difficulties.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “The message I have from Chelsea is there’s no imminent change on Liam Rosenior, and they still support him.
“This isn’t a squad built for him, so there are some points to remember when it’s time to judge him. They want to be in the Champions League next season.”
That stance suggests Chelsea’s leadership is taking a longer-term view, acknowledging structural issues within the squad while keeping their broader objectives intact. With several games still to play, Rosenior faces the immediate challenge of steadying results and restoring belief within the dressing room.
Failure to arrest the slide, however, could intensify scrutiny as the season approaches its decisive phase.
