Hannibal Mejbri to miss Tunisia duty after hamstring injury
Hannibal Mejbri has been ruled out of Tunisia’s upcoming international matches after sustaining a hamstring injury, his club Burnley FC has confirmed.
The midfielder will miss the Carthage Eagles’ next gathering in Canada, dealing a setback to the national side ahead of their scheduled fixtures.
The injury occurred during a recent match, forcing Mejbri to remain in England to undergo treatment and recovery.
Burnley manager Scott Parker confirmed the development, indicating that the decision had been made with the player’s long-term fitness in mind.
The club has opted to keep Mejbri under medical supervision rather than risk aggravating the problem.
His absence presents a challenge for Tunisia head coach Sabri Lamouchi, who must now adjust his plans without one of his most dynamic midfield options.
Mejbri has become known for his energy and influence in the centre of the pitch, making his unavailability a significant concern for the team.
Parker emphasised that caution was necessary in managing the injury, with the priority placed firmly on ensuring a full recovery.
The decision to withdraw the player from international duty reflects a careful approach aimed at preventing further complications.
For Tunisia, the focus now shifts to finding a suitable tactical alternative as they prepare for their upcoming matches. Lamouchi will be required to reshape his midfield options, balancing the need for stability with the absence of a player who often drives the team’s tempo.
While Mejbri remains sidelined, attention will also be on his rehabilitation process, with both club and country keen to see him return to full fitness.
