Adil Boulbina inspires Al-Duhail comeback win over Bounedjah’s Al-Shamal

Al-Duhail produced a late comeback to defeat Al-Shamal 3-1 in the Qatar Stars League, with Adil Boulbina playing a decisive role in a match that also featured fellow Algerian international Baghdad Bounedjah.

The encounter, part of the 19th round of the competition, saw both sides compete evenly for long periods, with chances at either end but little to separate them early on.

Al-Shamal appeared the more threatening going forward, largely due to Bounedjah’s activity in attack.

It was the striker who broke the deadlock just before half-time. In the 40th minute, Bounedjah reacted quickest to a rebound from the goalkeeper, finishing from close range to give his side the lead and register his seventh league goal of the season.

Al-Duhail, trailing at the interval, returned with greater urgency after the break.

Their improved tempo paid off six minutes into the second half when Edmilson Junior struck powerfully to bring the hosts level at 1-1.

From that point, the game opened up, with both teams pushing forward in search of a winner.

The contest became increasingly stretched, but neither side could find a decisive breakthrough as the clock ticked down.

The turning point came in the closing moments. With the match seemingly heading for a draw, Boulbina stepped up in the 90th minute to put Al-Duhail ahead.

He then turned provider in stoppage time, setting up Krzysztof Piatek to score a third goal and secure the victory.

Boulbina’s performance proved crucial, earning him the man-of-the-match award and underlining his importance to Al-Duhail this season.

For Al-Shamal, the result was a disappointing outcome after leading for much of the match, despite Bounedjah’s contribution in front of goal.
