Pharco FC announces ‘boycott’ of CAF competitions after decision to strip Senegal of AFCON 2025 trophy
An Egyptian club has stirred reactions across the football scene after declaring a boycott of all Confederation of African Football competitions in the wake of the controversial AFCON 2025 ruling.
Pharco FC released a statement announcing its decision to withdraw from all African tournaments, including the CAF Champions League, the Confederation Cup, the Super Cup, and any future competitions organised by the Confederation of African Football, indefinitely.
The announcement follows the widespread debate triggered by CAF’s Appeal Board decision to strip Senegal of the AFCON 2025 title and award it to Morocco. The ruling was based on Articles 82 and 84 of the regulations, which state that any team that refuses to continue a match or leaves the pitch before its conclusion is deemed to have forfeited, with a 3-0 result awarded to the opposing side.

According to Pharco, the decision to step away from continental competitions is in response to the interpretation and application of these rules, which have sparked strong reactions across the football community.
However, the statement has also raised eyebrows for a different reason. Pharco FC are not regular participants in CAF competitions, a detail that has led many to view the announcement as laced with humour or subtle sarcasm rather than a strictly serious stance.
The club has built a reputation for its playful and satirical tone on social media, and this latest declaration appears to align with that identity, even as it taps into one of the most contentious moments in recent African football history.
