Kylian Mbappe to be included in France squad for Brazil, Colombia friendlies despite injury concerns
Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé, who has Cameroonian roots is expected to be included in France’s squad for the upcoming March friendlies against Brazil and Colombia in the United States despite injury concerns.
Mbappe’s attendance is largely driven by contractual obligations with sponsors, including Nike, as captain of the national team. Despite suffering from a knee injury, Mbappé is expected to participate in marketing events and official appearances, even if his playing time is limited or nonexistent.
Sporting considerations, however, remain uncertain. The forward has opted for a conservative treatment plan, avoiding surgery in favor of a full recovery ahead of this summer’s World Cup. He has made it clear that he will not risk his health in friendlies and is even willing to miss crucial Champions League matches against Manchester City to safeguard his fitness for the Mundial.
France coach Didier Deschamps and the national team’s medical staff fully support Mbappé’s cautious approach. If the knee continues to cause discomfort, the star could spend the matches on the bench, or in the stands, without taking the field.
France will face Brazil on March 26, followed by a clash with Colombia on March 29, as the coaching staff prioritizes keeping their captain fully fit for the pinnacle of international football.
