Turkish outfit Besiktas step up chase for Cameroonian defender Darlin Yongwa

Turkish heavyweights Beşiktaş J.K. have reportedly initiated contact with the representatives of Cameroonian defender Darlin Yongwa as they prepare a potential summer transfer move.

Yongwa, who currently plies his trade with FC Lorient, remains under contract with the Ligue 1 side until June 2026. However, growing interest from abroad suggests the 25-year-old could be set for a new challenge when the transfer window reopens.

Per reports, Beşiktaş are keen to strengthen their defensive options and view Yongwa as a player who fits their long-term project. The Istanbul-based club have already sounded out the player’s entourage and are understood to be exploring the conditions of a possible deal.

The Turkish outfit are eager to move swiftly in order to fend off competition from other interested parties.

Yongwa has quietly built a solid reputation in France, making 18 Ligue 1 appearances this season and contributing one assist. His athleticism, defensive discipline and ability to support attacking transitions have not gone unnoticed, with clubs in both France and Germany also monitoring his situation closely.

Beşiktaş believe Yongwa’s contractual timeline could work in their favour. With two years remaining on his deal by the end of the season, Lorient may be tempted to negotiate rather than risk seeing his market value diminish closer to the expiration of his contract.

A move to Turkey would mark a significant step in Yongwa’s career, offering him the opportunity to compete at a higher level domestically and potentially in European competitions. For Beşiktaş, securing his signature would signal clear intent ahead of the new campaign.

As interest intensifies across multiple leagues, the coming months could prove decisive in determining whether the Cameroonian international remains in Ligue 1 or embarks on a fresh chapter in Istanbul.
