South African forward Thembinkosi Lorch delivers again as Al-Ittihad extend dominant lead in Libya

Thembinkosi Lorch continued his strong start in Libya by providing an assist as Al-Ittihad SC secured a 2-0 victory over Abelashhar in the Libyan Premier League.

The South African forward played a decisive role in the win, setting up Mouad Issa for the opening goal shortly after the hour mark.

Ahmed Al Bizi added a second seven minutes later to seal the result and maintain the club’s commanding position at the top of the table.

Lorch’s influence since arriving in North Africa has been immediate.

The 32-year-old joined the 18-time Libyan champions during the winter transfer window in a high-profile move from Wydad Athletic Club.

His transition has been seamless, with the attacker contributing one goal and one assist in just three appearances across all competitions.

Against Abelashhar, his vision and composure once again proved valuable.

With the match finely balanced, Lorch’s delivery created the breakthrough, allowing Issa to put the hosts ahead.

The second goal soon followed, giving Al-Ittihad control of proceedings and ensuring maximum points.
