Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi nets fourth Premier League goal as Fulham sink Tottenham to boost European push
Nigeria international Alex Iwobi delivered yet another decisive performance as Fulham edged Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in an entertaining Premier League clash at Craven Cottage.
Iwobi struck his fourth league goal of the season to help Marco Silva’s men claim a valuable three points and continue their impressive campaign.
Fulham wasted no time asserting themselves in front of their home supporters. Harry Wilson opened the scoring just seven minutes into the contest, capitalising on a bright start from the hosts to put early pressure on Spurs.
The Cottagers maintained their attacking intent, and it paid off again in the 34th minute. Iwobi, finding space in the box, kept his composure and finished confidently to double Fulham’s advantage. The goal underlined his growing influence in the team and marked another important contribution in what has been a productive season for the versatile midfielder.
Tottenham attempted to mount a comeback in the second half. Their efforts were rewarded in the 66th minute when substitute Richarlison rose highest to head home a cross from Archie Gray, reducing the deficit and setting up a tense finale.
Despite the late pressure, Fulham remained organised and resolute at the back, seeing out the game to secure a deserved victory.
The result lifts Fulham to eighth place in the Premier League standings on 40 points, drawing level with Everton and strengthening their push for a potential European spot. Tottenham, meanwhile, continue to struggle for consistency and remain down in 16th place as concerns deepen over their campaign.
