Senegal goalkeeper Édouard Mendy breaks Al-Ahli clean sheet record in Saudi Pro League
Senegal goalkeeper Édouard Mendy continues to cement his legacy with Al-Ahli Saudi FC after another commanding display between the posts secured a 1-0 victory over Al-Riyadh SC in the 24th round of the Saudi Pro League.
The narrow win propelled Al-Ahli to 59 points, sending them temporarily to the top of the Saudi Pro League, while Al-Riyadh remained on 16 points in 15th position.
Mendy’s latest clean sheet carried even greater significance, as it saw him become the goalkeeper with the most shutouts in Al-Ahli’s history in the Saudi league. The Senegal international has now recorded 38 clean sheets in the competition, a remarkable milestone that places him among the most influential goalkeepers the club has ever had.
Since arriving in the summer of 2023, Mendy has steadily grown into one of the team’s most dependable figures. His consistency and leadership at the back have transformed him into a central pillar of Al-Ahli’s defensive structure, with his performances frequently proving decisive in tight contests.
This season alone, he has kept 11 clean sheets, underlining his dominance and composure under pressure. His ability to deliver in crucial moments has not only strengthened Al-Ahli’s title push but has also distinguished him as one of the standout goalkeepers in the league.
As the Roshn League campaign intensifies, Mendy’s growing list of records reflects a goalkeeper operating at the peak of his powers, guarding Al-Ahli’s ambitions with authority and rewriting the club’s history one clean sheet at a time.
