French-Algerian midfielder Adil Aouchiche set to sign new deal with FC Schalke 04

French-Algerian midfielder Adil Aouchiche may see his contract with FC Schalke 04 automatically extended, following a clause included in his winter transfer agreement.

According to German outlet WAZ, the clause is designed to reward strong performance while providing flexibility for the club.

Under the terms, Aouchiche’s current contract, which runs until 2027, would automatically extend through 2029 if he reaches a minimum of 22 competitive appearances during the 2026/27 season.

The arrangement ensures that Schalke can secure the 23-year-old midfielder long-term if he continues to impress, while also allowing for an uncomplicated exit should he fail to meet expectations.

Since joining Schalke on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in the winter window, Aouchiche has already made a positive impact. The former PSG youth star has appeared in three matches and contributed three assists, signaling that the partnership is off to a promising start.

The automatic extension clause reflects Schalke’s forward-thinking approach, balancing potential long-term retention with performance-based accountability for one of their most exciting winter additions.
