Zed have announced that 19-year-old midfielder Omar Abu Taleb has joined Spanish club Getafe, where he will play for their Under-19 side.
Abu Taleb, who was born in 2008, plays in midfield and is right-footed. He represented Egypt at last year’s Under-17 World Cup under coach Ahmed El Kass, with the tournament held in Qatar.
He joined Zed in 2022 and has now taken the next step in his career by moving to Spain. During the 2025-26 season, the defensive midfielder scored one goal and provided one assist in 15 appearances.
According to Getafe’s website, Abu Taleb will wear the number 16 shirt.
His move continues the growing presence of young Egyptian players in Spanish football. Abu Taleb follows Hamza Abdelkarim, who joined Barcelona, Omar Yasser at Alaves, Mohamed Haitham and Bilal Attia at Racing Santander, and Abdelrahman Mohamed at Leganes.
