Belgian-Congolese forward Samuel Mbangula suffers injury in Werder Bremen training
Belgian-born forward of Congolese descent, Samuel Mbangula, was forced to cut short Wednesday’s training session at Werder Bremen after experiencing pain in his right thigh, raising concerns over his availability for the upcoming Bundesliga clash against Heidenheim.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder, who has recently been pivotal to Bremen’s offensive play, received treatment on the pitch before being escorted to the locker room for further evaluation. An MRI scan scheduled for Thursday is expected to provide a clearer diagnosis.
Mbangula’s potential absence would be a significant setback for Werder Bremen, particularly after his crucial contribution in the previous match against St. Pauli, where he assisted the equaliser with a swift attacking run.
The squad is already dealing with other personnel challenges: forward Keke Topp is training at a reduced capacity due to an infection, while centre-back Niklas Stark is undergoing individual sessions to manage his workload after returning from injury.
With the match against Heidenheim approaching, Werder Bremen will be closely monitoring Mbangula’s recovery, as his presence could prove vital in their pursuit of three points.
