Real Sociedad reach agreement with Chelsea for Senegal defender Mamadou Sarr loan
Real Sociedad are closing in on the signing of Chelsea defender Mamadou Sarr on a season-long loan deal in the current transfer window.
According to reports, the Spanish club have reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea over the temporary move of the 20-year-old Senegalese centre-back.
The proposed deal will run for one season and will not contain an option for Real Sociedad to make the transfer permanent.
Sarr is expected to undergo his medical in Spain as the two clubs work to complete the remaining formalities. The defender will not be involved in the current fixture as he awaits the finalisation of his move.
Chelsea signed Sarr from Strasbourg in the summer of 2025, handing him a contract that runs until June 2033.
He spent the first half of the 2025/26 campaign back at Strasbourg on loan, making 18 appearances across all competitions. After returning to Chelsea in February 2026, Sarr featured six times for the London club.
The young defender is currently valued at €22 million by Transfermarkt and is now set to continue his development in La Liga with Real Sociedad.
