Libyan side Al-Ahli Tripoli have officially announced the signing of Senegalese midfielder Mamadou Lamine Camara on a two-and-a-half-year deal, bringing him in from Renaissance Berkane.

The transfer came as a surprise to RS Berkane coach Mounir Chaabani, who described Kamara’s decision to depart as sudden and difficult to understand.

Chaabani explained that the player had been training normally until the night of a recent match, when he unexpectedly informed the technical staff of his intention to join the Libyan league.

Efforts by the club president to clarify the reasons proved unfruitful, prompting a swift departure.

Despite the abrupt exit, Chaabani stressed that the team remained unaffected, noting a strong collective performance in Kamara’s absence.

“RS Berkane’s strength lies in the collective, not in individuals,” he said, emphasising the importance of discipline and commitment, particularly during critical continental competitions.

Al-Ahli Tripoli confirmed that the transfer followed proper legal procedures. The club reached an agreement with Kamara and his lawyer regarding the payment of the player’s release clause, which will be completed once the international registration documents are submitted and approved.

The statement underlined that the player is considered officially free to join once the registration process is finalized.

The Libyan club also expressed gratitude to Kamara and his lawyer for prioritising Al-Ahli Tripoli’s offer over others and praised their cooperation in completing the administrative requirements. Kamara now joins the squad ahead of a crucial stretch in the domestic season, where he is expected to contribute immediately.
