Amad Diallo has opened up on how much he is enjoying life under interim Manchester United boss Michael Carrick, highlighting the former midfielder’s deep connection with the club and the players.
Speaking on the club’s official Inside Carrington podcast, Amad explained why Carrick’s presence feels so important in the dressing room.
“I think having Michael Carrick as head coach in the team is very important because he knows the club,” Amad said. “He’s the main man who can tell us about the club we are playing for.”
Amad revealed that Carrick constantly reminds the players who they represent every time they step onto the pitch. “Before the games he keeps telling us: you guys, you are playing for yourself, but you’re playing also for the fans, and he’s telling us the fans are very important for us,” he added. “We are also playing for the fans because we want to win and we want to give them something back.”
The winger also spoke warmly about Carrick’s personality and their long-standing relationship.
“Having Carrick is very enjoyable and we enjoy the training. He’s a nice guy. He talks with everyone and I’m so lucky because I know him already – he was here when I arrived, when I was 18,” Amad said. “I also played against him when he was in the Championship, so I know him since a long time and he’s a nice guy.”
United are unbeaten in five matches under Carrick, with Amad starting and playing 90 minutes in all but one of those games.
