Monaco’s hopes of securing a strong start in their Champions League playoff clash against Paris Saint-Germain have taken a blow, as Spanish forward Ansu Fati has been ruled out with a fresh injury setback.
The Barcelona loanee, who has been a key attacking option for the Ligue 1 side, finds himself back in the treatment room at the most critical juncture of the season.
Fati had only just returned to action last weekend following a calf injury, making a brief 30-minute appearance in Monaco’s Ligue 1 fixture against Nantes. Unfortunately, the forward suffered a painful quadriceps blow during the match, forcing the club’s medical staff to withdraw him from the squad for tonight’s Champions League first-leg showdown.
Monaco coach and staff confirmed that the injury was serious enough to prevent Fati from contributing on the pitch against the Parisians, a significant setback given his influence in the team’s attacking setup.
So far this season, Fati has made 19 appearances across all competitions for Monaco, scoring eight goals in just 785 minutes of play. His absence leaves a void in the frontline as the French side prepares to face PSG in one of the most pivotal fixtures of the campaign.
With Monaco relying heavily on Fati’s pace, creativity, and finishing, the forward’s unavailability adds an extra layer of challenge for the team, which will now need to find alternative attacking solutions to overcome a formidable PSG squad
