Seven-goal Singida surge among big CAF Confederation Cup first-leg results

The first legs of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round produced several emphatic away victories, with ASKO de Kara recording the biggest win after thrashing AS ZAM 5-0 in Niger.

The result gives ASKO de Kara a commanding advantage ahead of the second leg and made them the standout winners of the opening round of matches.

Al Ahly Tripoli also secured a convincing victory on the road, beating KMKM 3-0. ZED FC added another strong result on Sunday with a 4-0 home win against ASAS Djibouti.

Singida Black Stars were the most prolific side of the round, scoring seven times in a 7-1 victory away to Al-Ghazala. Their result was one of the most striking performances of the weekend.

Hafia FC fought back to earn a 2-2 draw at AS Douanes, while Shooting Stars claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over CS Sfaxien.

Two matches did not take place as scheduled. Panthers FC’s meeting with ASPAC was postponed, as was the fixture between Virunga and Bazar Brothers.

ASKO de Kara, Al Ahly Tripoli, ZED FC and Singida Black Stars will now take substantial leads into their respective second legs, while the teams involved in the drawn matches will have everything to play for when the ties continue.
