Sinayoko’s Marseille celebration gives Paris FC victory extra bite

Lassine Sinayoko said Paris FC’s 3-2 victory over Olympique de Marseille was made even more special by the fact that it delivered his first professional hat-trick and allowed him to celebrate it in Marseille.

The Mali international scored all three of Paris FC’s goals in the Ligue 1 victory and later reflected on the achievement in an interview with Ligue 1+. Sinayoko admitted he was so delighted by his performance that he briefly lost sight of something important while celebrating with his team-mates in the dressing room.

“Emotions. Sometimes you do things and think about them afterwards. I was so happy, I wanted to celebrate it in the dressing room, that I forgot… not the most important thing, but still something important,” he said.

Sinayoko’s comments came after a memorable individual display in a match that Paris FC eventually won 3-2 against Olympique de Marseille. His three goals secured the result and gave him a landmark moment in his professional career.

The forward also revealed that he was uncertain about whether he had actually scored Paris FC’s second goal, which came in the 19th minute. The uncertainty centred on a possible touch from Chergui, leaving Sinayoko unsure who should be credited with the finish.

“Did I really score the second goal? Honestly, I hesitated. I need to watch it again. I even asked Chergui, was it you or was it me? (smiles). I don’t know how it went in,” he said.

Despite that uncertainty, Sinayoko was certain about the wider significance of the performance. Scoring three times against Olympique de Marseille, while representing a Paris-based club, gave the occasion an added edge.

“It’s my first professional hat-trick, so it has an even more special feeling. We come from Paris, we do this in Marseille, there’s nothing better,” he said.

The result therefore carried significance on two levels for Sinayoko. It marked his first hat-trick as a professional footballer, while also helping Paris FC claim a 3-2 win away against Olympique de Marseille.

His reaction combined genuine surprise at the way one of his goals went in with the satisfaction of reaching a personal milestone.
