Enzo Fernandez picks Manchester City after Real Madrid fail to match his ambition

Enzo Fernandez has joined Manchester City after finding at the Premier League club the key ingredient he felt was missing from a possible move to Real Madrid: a manager who knows his game and is determined to build around him.

That contribution has given the move an encouraging opening, with Maresca relying on Fernandez to help reshape Manchester City’s midfield following the departures of several important players.

For Fernandez, the move represents a significant change in direction. The opportunity he had hoped for at Real Madrid did not materialise, but Manchester City offered something he considered equally important: a coach who believes in his ability and intends to use him prominently.
