Ghana will enter the March international break with a depleted squad as injuries to key players force coach Otto Addo to reconsider his options.
The Black Stars face several absences ahead of two scheduled friendlies, against Austria national football team on 27 March and Germany national football team on 30 March.
Central defenders Mohammed Salisu and Francis Abu are confirmed to be out while recovering from surgery, leaving gaps in the squad’s defensive line.
Tottenham striker Mohammed Kudus, who sustained an injury in January during a league match against Sunderland, is also a concern.
Although undergoing rehabilitation in Amsterdam with the aim of returning to Spurs ahead of the break, his fitness remains uncertain.
Other key players face challenges as well. Ernest Nuamah has returned to training with Lyon following an ACL injury that kept him out for nearly a year.
Tariq Lamptey has played only two matches since joining Fiorentina, limiting his match readiness.
Meanwhile, veteran midfielder Thomas Partey has started just seven of Villarreal CF’s 14 matches and faces ongoing legal issues that could affect his availability.
To offset these absences, Addo has opened the door for domestic talent and dual-nationality players.
The Ghana Football Association has organised a training camp featuring league-based players such as Razak Simpson, Kojo Peprah Oppong, Abdoul Mumin, Patrick Pfeiffer, and Dacosta Antwi.
Several overseas players, including the Acheampong brothers, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Eddy Nketiah, have also been approached about representing Ghana.
The March friendlies offer Addo an opportunity to integrate new talent, assess squad cohesion, and make tactical adjustments ahead of the 2026 World Cup campaign, despite the current spate of injuries to senior players.
