Benoit Badiashile set for Napoli medical

Benoit Badiashile is expected to complete his move from Chelsea to Napoli after the Italian champions finalised the paperwork for his loan transfer.

The French centre-back has already agreed personal terms, while the remaining step is a medical examination scheduled to take place in Italy this week.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Napoli will pay a €3 million loan fee, with a further €1 million available through performance-related bonuses. The agreement also includes a €27 million option to buy the defender permanently next summer.

The transfer should be formally completed once Badiashile passes his medical. Romano also clarified that Nayef Aguerd was never Napoli’s alternative target, as the club had already reached a verbal agreement with Badiashile last week.

The move offers Badiashile an opportunity to rebuild his career after a frustrating 2025/26 season at Stamford Bridge. The 25-year-old made only 14 appearances in all competitions, accumulating 861 minutes without scoring or providing an assist.

Napoli will hope the Frenchman can add strength and composure to their defence as they prepare for another demanding campaign. Chelsea, meanwhile, could benefit from regular playing time for a player who has struggled to secure a consistent role in London.
