Lazio have sent a clear message about how highly they value Fisayo Dele-Bashiru after turning down two approaches from the Premier League in the winter transfer window.
Italian insider Nicolo Schira reports that both Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth submitted offers for the Nigerian midfielder, only for the Rome club to refuse to negotiate. Their stance underlines the 24-year-old’s growing importance in the squad under the current project at the Olimpico.
Dele-Bashiru, valued at €6.5 million by Transfermarkt, is under contract with Lazio until 30 June 2028, giving the club no pressure to sell in the short term.
This season he has made 13 appearances across competitions, contributing one goal and one assist as he gradually carves out a bigger role in Serie A. Lazio believe there is much more to come from his physical, box-to-box profile and are keen to develop him further rather than cash in early.
With Premier League clubs already circling, Dele-Bashiru’s performances over the next 18 months could determine whether Lazio eventually open the door to a move or keep building around him as a long-term midfield asset.
