Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has lavished praise on Antoine Semenyo following another influential performance in the Premier League.
The Ghanaian forward was on the scoresheet and also provided an assist as City eased past Fulham with a 3-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium, maintaining pressure on title rivals Arsenal, who face Brentford later tonight at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Semenyo, who joined the champions in January from AFC Bournemouth, has made an immediate impact at the club. His goal against Fulham was his fifth in just eight league appearances, underlining his seamless adaptation to Guardiola’s system.
Guardiola highlighted the 26-year-old’s all-round qualities, describing the signing as a shrewd piece of business by the club.
“He’s scoring a lot of goals, having the sense feel for the second balls in the box, but it’s not just that; the pace, the intensity,…he’s a top top player.
“Like I said, the club made incredible signings in Marc (Guehi) and Antoine (Semenyo),” he added.
City now turn their attention to the FA Cup, where Semenyo will be aiming to continue his impressive run of form when they face lower-tier Saltford FC this weekend.
