Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams is relishing his outfit final round of the CAF Champions League group stage clash against MC Alger, stressing he and his teammates must go all out for a win.
For Adams, his outfit chances of beating MC Alger on Saturday will depend largely on how well the team prepares for the decisive encounter.
The midfielder insists the Brazilians must approach the match with total commitment, while ensuring their recovery and build-up are handled properly.
“We must go all out, we need to win that one, but the preparations must be good,” Adams told the club’s official website. “We must recover and look forward to it.”
Adams was the standout performer for Sundowns in Lubumbashi last Sunday, scoring the crucial goal in a 1-1 draw against ST Éloi Lupopo in their CAF Confederation Cup clash. Aubrey Modiba delivered a corner which the former Stellenbosch FC midfielder powered home with a confident header to secure a valuable away result.
Reflecting on the contest, Adams admitted Sundowns initially struggled to find their rhythm against Lupopo’s midfield setup.
“It was a very intensive game. In the first half we kept the ball well, but they played with four in midfield and it confused us,” he explained. “As the game went on, the players and coaches gave us another game plan, and it worked.
“In the second half we controlled the game and they got tired a bit, which gave us a lot of space, and we took advantage of that.”
With qualification on the line, the upcoming clash against MC Alger leaves no room for error, as Adams and his teammates head into what he describes as a do-or-die encounter.
