Ibrahim Hassan, director of the Egyptian national team, has lauded coach Hossam Hassan for his technical expertise and emphasized a strong working relationship with Egyptian Football Association president Hani Abu Rida.
Speaking to ON Sport, Ibrahim Hassan said the team’s recent Africa Cup of Nations training camp “was exemplary,” adding that while some players may have noticed new elements like discipline and focus, such standards have long been expected under Hossam Hassan.
He praised the camp’s organization and player commitment, noting, “The roster was top-level, and the entire system operated at its highest level. We were on an official national mission and didn’t allow distractions. In the past, camps were sometimes disrupted, but that will no longer happen.”
On player management, he explained that while athletes are now focusing on their clubs, the national team maintains close monitoring.
“The national team doctor follows injured players, with weekly technical and medical reports. We only communicate with those at risk of missing the March camp,” he said.
Ibrahim Hassan also reflected on his approach to leadership and respect within the team. “Experience, history, and personality matter. Players respect those who show consistency and handle matters professionally,” he noted.
Addressing his rapport with Hani Abu Rida, he said, “The relationship is good. He supported us throughout the tournament, meeting all our needs. The camp atmosphere was positive.”
On his partnership with Hossam Hassan, Ibrahim added, “We complement each other. He excels in technical matters, I focus on administration, but no one surpasses him technically. I’m impressed by his personality and dedication—he often loses sleep implementing his ideas. He deserves every recognition.”
